Traveling Theatre for Children in Hospitals

## About the project When a child is admitted to a hospital, their world changes overnight. Days become long. Hospital rooms replace playgrounds. Medical treatments become part of everyday life. For many children, hospitalization means weeks or even months away from school, friends, and the small things that make childhood joyful. The "Traveling Theatre for Children in Hospitals" project, initiated by the Saint John Association, aims to bring something rare and deeply valuable into these spaces: joy, imagination, and moments of escape from the reality of illness. ## What we want to build Our goal is to create a theatre performance designed especially for hospitalized children, together with portable stage elements and props so that the play can travel directly between hospitals. The performance will be adapted for unconventional spaces such as: - hospital rooms - pediatric wards - common areas within hospitals Once the production is ready, the project team will organize touring performances between hospitals, bringing theatre directly to children who cannot leave the hospital environment. ## Why this matters For a child in a hospital bed, a moment of theatre can mean much more than entertainment. It can mean: - forgetting about illness, even for a moment - a smile on a difficult day - a story that inspires courage - the feeling that the world has not forgotten them Sometimes, a few minutes of imagination can transform an entire day. ## How you can help To make this project possible, support is needed for: - writing and producing the theatre play - creating portable stage props and decorations - costumes and visual elements - preparing the artistic team - transportation and logistics between hospitals The Saint John Association invites the community to support this initiative and help bring theatre to children in hospitals.
